in becoming a member of Spelthorne Archaeology
and Local History Group?
SALHG was formed
in 2010 when Spelthorne Archaeological Field Group and
the Friends of Spelthorne Museum combined. It is a registered
Charity (No 275465) and the committee act as the Trustees
of Spelthorne Museum.
By becoming a member you will be able to enjoy the following
at the Museum
to help out at the Museum
(Front of House or behind the scenes)
to do local history research
of local/historical interest
(free entry for members)
SALHG runs a monthly lecture series on the first Thursday
of each month from September until April. Lectures are
held in the Staines Methodist Church, Thames Street,
Staines and start at 8pm. In September the talk will
be held in Ashford. Please check 'Notices' or the 'Talks'
page for forthcoming events. We are always pleased to
hear from anyone willing to come and give a local history
or archaeology lecture.
The Spelthorne Museum is entirely
volunteer run. Would you like to join us? We do not
expect you to have qualifications or museum experience
as we provide on-the-job training. A variety of jobs
are available both behind the scenes, looking after
the collection, setting up new displays, assisting
with the education service and also at the 'front
of house' where volunteers ensure that the museum
is open when advertised.
Volunteers receive a monthly
'Treasures' newsletter. They also have an password
protected area on the website especially for their
