Stories

A friend told me her dad was a Policeman back in the 60's and when ever they had a vagrant come into the police station, he had to take them down to the Municipal baths to get cleaned up, a distasteful job but it got him out of the station for a while!

Between 1956 and 1959 we too used the Staines Municipal Baths. Living in Sunbury, on a Caravan Park we made the trip, in a Morris Tourer, Mother squashed into the Rumble seat, to Staines each Saturday morning, put our weeks washing into the Laundromat then three of us off to the baths for a nice hot soak. Rain or shine. What memories.

Thanks Doreen!
